The shocking figures on rape prosecutions in the UK reveal that only 1.6% of reported rapes result in a charge. That’s a charge. That’s 1 in 60. That’s not prosecutions. That’s not  charges that led to conviction.

Could there be more damning statistics?

However, TV shows and films where rape is being investigated would have us believe that rapists are relentlessly hunted down, charged, prosecuted and convicted. Or that the victim or her avenger seeks more ‘hands on’ justice themselves.

Probably looking at a charge/prosecute/conviction percentage in the high 90s for rapes on screen.

That’s entertainment.
